Small film. New possibilities.
Two free calendar months to create a micro-short of up to five minutes, with up to five Surge Points and up to two branches at each Surge Point. No credit card. No automatic paid renewal.
Keep every possible viewing path within five minutes. Alternative footage is not added together as if every branch plays in one viewing. This trial is for micro-shorts; feature-length projects and expanded branching belong to the full membership, not this offer.
- Write the Main Film. Tell a complete short story that works on its own. Use Screenplay & Lumis Map, import a PDF or FDX, or start with footage you filmed elsewhere.
- Create the alternatives. Choose up to five places where the story could change. Write and film up to two alternative branches for each. Decide where they rejoin or end.
- Add footage. In Playback setup, assign the Main Film and branch clips. No screenplay is required for footage-only projects.
- Mark Surge Window 1. Set the start and end of the audience-reading interval. Lumis measures visible webcam reactions during that window and locks the decision when it closes.
- Place Surge Point 1. Set the exact moment the selected branch begins. It can come later than the window. Matching numbers connect each window to its point.
- Choose outcomes. Connect the branches, weight their emotion mixes and choose the fallback when the camera is off or no clear match wins.
- Preview and refine. Test each branch and the fallback with Preview as audience. Save online, reopen your project, and export a project backup. Send feedback from this page.

- Create a private film in My films.
- Write a scene or import an FDX or text-based PDF.
- Build Main Film → Surge Point → Branches in Lumis Map.
- Edit both sides, connect and disconnect routes, and try Undo / Redo.
- Wait for Saved online, reopen your film, then export PDF and FDX.
- Export a project backup to preserve the complete Lumis Map and playback settings.
- Try recovery on a disposable test film: duplicate it, delete the copy, then restore it from Deleted films.
Scanned PDFs need OCR before importing. Exported project backups preserve the full Lumis structure; PDF and FDX serve screenplay exchange.
